Dancing Swan

Emotions run down back, her spine
Spreading inside from a single line

I grab her hand and dance, time stops
I’m at my limit, all my emotions it tops

We swirl and twirl in circles looking at each’
We converse in feelings, no need for speech

Then a rush of something pumps in my blood
This not the rain of emotions, this is the flood

Step one, walk forward and then we turn,
I can feel the ground sink as my feet burn

We pick up the pace and move away
Yet though we move, we wish to stay

I turn her in spirals like the sun, a flower
I let her take away my energy and power

Then I sense her following dance tipping!
Oh she wants to show off more! Ripping!

She pushes me back in a third turn, I brace
I find her so close that I can touch her face

But no time for games, what of the dance?
I see us in a difficult pose, amazing stance

The waltz goes on and my heart beats fast
Others around us but I see none going past

Dance with me oh fragrance of rosemary
I spin you around myself in bits, a rosary

My hand on her back, I feel her delicate spine
One by one I trace her pearls, her figure is fine

To her slender face, neck and waist, I’m drawn
Her hips grow and her legs stay firm, my swan

I see it now, we were too different from the rest
Perhaps true love is with whom you dance best
