Summer’s Love

You catch me off guard once more, suddenly
My heartbeat stops then vanishes drunkenly

Darling won’t your glossy lips wait for me?
Do they have errands or some place to be?

O hold my face in your palms again as I melt
Shell nails but with hands as soft as I ever felt

Why are they cold again? Were you out long?
Hold my hand, let my warmth sing you a song

But one perfection that cannot be forgotten
Is how your fingers were as soft as cotton

I gaze at the breeze flowing through your hair
The wind passes by with such love and care

As if every part of that windy gust could see,
For if anyone sees you, dazed they would be

Golden Eyes, how do your eyes shine at night?
Even on a sunny morning they shine so bright

From what heaven did you inherit skin so fair?
Drunk, I hope you don’t mind my gaze and stare

Whisper in my ear again with your kind voice
Smile for me a final time, let my eyes rejoice

Won’t you share your secrets with me today?
Did God send you down for a while or to stay?

Do you come from fabric so light like air?
Tell me O rosemary, how could this be fair?

Do not take away the moon and sun apart
Their attachment is the true work of an art

Yet, even as they might never accept defeat
Sadly, the sun and moon might never meet
