The Rock & Star

Little rock down the bottom of the ocean
Looks at the star in the sky, to its motion

Rock:
Oh, how bright and magnificent you are,
Beautiful light in the sky, my pretty star

What am I in this dark place? I have no face!
Rocks are different, lonely, we have no race

How I wish I could fly to you, and be there
I’m tired of sitting, I don’t want to just stare

Instead, here I am, lurking in the dirt and sand
Won’t you help me up there? Give me your hand

Don’t leave me down here to be covered by dirt
The ocean will bury me forever, I bet it won’t hurt

Not even a proper death shall I receive?
What faith is there for a rock to believe?

Stuck in one place for the never-ending time
Oh how space and the sky must be sublime

Star:
Look at this rock in the ocean, happy and alive
Waters cover you up, waves take you on a dive

I am alone, in an empty space, all so never-ending
Your time passes by, mine is slow, never bending

How empty can life get? No one will see me fade,
When I go, no one will realize nor come to my aid

It is this hell of a sky I live in, I’m not free,
You can be all, whatever, you wish to be!

Rock, won’t you pull me down to your side?
I promise by the rules of the earth to abide!

Let me join your family, surrounded by sands
I’ll hold you forever, holding both your hands

Flouting in empty space for a never-ending time
Oh how the ocean and its floor must be sublime
