Today’s Seed

The love rose blooms, 5 petals in red
The parents let their infant rest in bed

White clouds cover the skies of blue
Mother’s love, to her child, was true

A tree behind the rose gives it shade
Mother fed the child, soup she made

Caring-tree gave the rose leaves to eat
The child gets a blanket, big and neat

Father is hunting for food, winter comes
Oh in winter, a hummingbird never hums

Father vanishes, all frozen in the cold
Mother still feeds her child, too bold

The tree breaks its arms to fall around
The rose is now all safe on the ground

No cold winds to hurt this rose here
Mother was freezing, sheds her tear

Holding her child to her chest, she dies
And the last leaf of the tree finally flies

The rose grows and is now a tree
The child grew up, he is also free

Leave a path of sacrifice for others to lead
A tree you see today was yesterday’s seed
